The Lagonda Club 2014 DB Rally
A social and picnic outdoor event organised by Alan Heard and Martin Peters took place at Wyboston, Bedfordshire on Sunday July 20th. Attendance was all that could have been hoped for, as the accompanying photographs show:  twelve  2.6s, two of which were examples of the changeover period - 2.6 chassis with 3 Litre bodywork, four  3 Litres, one DB Rapide and one Towns V8. Two 1930s Lagondas, 2-Litre and LG6, an Aston Martin DB MkIII and a Jaguar XK150 were also there. Many other DB owners visited without their ‘under restoration’ cars.

Some fascinating car histories and stories of lengthy rebuilds were on display. One notable tale  being that of the two very early cars, Alan’s own drophead coupé and its sister black saloon, that had gone off to the continent for proving test runs 66 years earlier. They were side by side again for the first time since 1948.

The event enabled demonstration of the work that is going on within the Lagonda Club’s Spares Committee of providing help and information on sources of parts and details of parts that have been or are in the process of being remanufactured by The Lagonda Club. It also provided an opportunity for owners to establish contact with one another.  A thoroughly successful day!       Martin Peters.

Photograph supplied by Peter Reeves who obtained it from former owner Ken Rawlings who ran it in the mid to late
sixties. Eventually, 80 CPH ended up in a scrapyard after the engine was removed to be put in an Aston Martin. The
car was subsequently bought by Roger Daniell and is being used now as the basis for a 'Special'.

I had thoughts of buying SLC 614 in 1992 when the
photos were taken. It was in an advanced state of decay
and,at the time, I had nowhere to carry out the extensive
restoration needed. (Tony Tocock).
